There are over 13 million children being bullied today, and it is one of the most common forms of violence that children experience. As individuals, groups, communities, and society we need to move beyond a simple reaction to alarming headlines and creating zero-policy reminders and policies. It’s time to discuss the importance of adult supervision, identify successful preventative methods, build social and emotional competencies, refine perspectives we need to adopt and create effective linkages within our communities to make bullying less common.
Members of this NISCE Roundtable will discuss:
- Ways an entire school community can be alert to signals and warning signs of bullying
- Techniques parents, students, and educators can use to “upstand” on behalf of the safe and respectful learning and living environment that every young person deserves
- Curriculum options for building awareness and creating more supportive school cultures
